Cloud Computing World Forum, London, UK – 22nd June, 2011, —iTrinegy, the Networked Application Performance specialist announced today that it has been chosen by Networks First as technology provider of choice for their new innovate service offering a ‘Try before you buy’ IT Transformation Testing Service. This NEW initiative enables companies to do a realistic proof-of-concept test before they place their IT within any kind of Cloud Computing model (or other delivery models that involve a change in how applications are delivered over networks).
Networks First are experts in providing specialist lifecycle network management services and by utilising iTrinegy’s award winning network emulation and profiling technology as part of their ‘Transformation Testing Service’, they are able to offer customers full visibility of potential network-related pitfalls before migrating to the Cloud (or undertaking major network changes or transformational network changes).
Frank Puranik, iTrinegy CTO: “Our technology has become a leader in emulating all aspects of a network and we are delighted to be working with Networks First who provides expert services that scale to the individual needs of customers. Make no mistake there is a real need to understand how the network can and will impact applications in cloud computing whatever guise. The combination of Network First’s expertise in the delivery of professional services and our INE network profiling and emulation technology will be a powerful force for ensuring the successful implementation of the IT transformations that organisations need to undertake.”
The “Testing as a Service” (TaaS) package will enable organisations to prove user experience prior to “real-world” transition by emulating how a new network configuration will impact application performance before committing resources to a full deployment. The service allows organisations to fully stress test the viability of different network configurations, monitoring how significant factors such as bandwidth, latency and packet loss would affect network operation and user experience and measuring application response times. This new Transformation Testing Service dramatically cuts the cost and risk associated with undertaking any major changes to the network.
Testing as a Service is able to emulate any public or private network – using a toolset provided by iTrinegy which is scaled to meet business requirements. Networks Frist provide the expertise to design the test scenarios, interpret the results and advise on how the network should be modified to ensure optimum performance on roll-out. The service will be of particular advantage to companies wishing to move key applications to an off-site data centre, enhance communication with mobile and remote workforces, integrate new applications on to the WAN or make the transition to a Cloud or Virtual environment. It will also prove invaluable to companies requiring greater budget control by allowing the right-sizing of WAN services.
Sara Gemmell, Networks First’s managing director explains: “Many organisations are having to make major changes to their IT infrastructure and the WAN, either as a result of budget cuts or organisational change. Whilst any change carries risk, this service will enable firms to emulate how their infrastructure will perform under new conditions, thereby protecting against spiralling troubleshooting and redesign costs which could otherwise arise if the new configuration doesn’t perform as expected.
John, CIO at Sports Direct, speaks personally “The User experience, for both the employee and customer, is extremely important to us. Comprehensive testing prior to the roll-out of applications across our branch sites would allow us to investigate and resolve any problems prior to launch. This service would greatly assist in mitigating the risk of downtime, something which we as a 24×7 business cannot afford”
